I learned quite a bit about rhythm in class, during these past months. Rhythm helps make music sound more wonderful and exquisite because without rhythm, music just sounds kinda wrong. That doesn’t mean songs without rhythm are automatically bad, but they don’t attract much attention as humans are more drawn to rhythmic songs. Rhythm is here to please our ears with its magic. I personally am not that great with rhythm, but I hope to become better at implementing rhythm into my future songs. Well, that’s it for now, thanks for reading. ♪(๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑)♪
Loop song again, ok
How did I come up with this “masterpiece”… I just kinda put things together to see how it sounded. I didn’t want to make this one complicated, but rather super simple. That’s why the instrument used in the song is the piano, since they have simple patterns that sound good anywhere. I also messed around with the FX settings to give it some reverb and different sounds, it sounded good, but I want to continue practicing with the FX settings. Ok, kiddos, now listen to my song thingy and judge me “nicely” alright. Link -> https://drive.google.com/a/stu.zps.org/file/d/1OwyxEAukvzYQb5DLGLiWMdALfruAwPhO/view?usp=drivesdk
If the link doesn’t work, then I have no idea what to do do do….
Breakdown of a Song I guess
The song of my choice comes from Yoshi’s Island, and it is the song that plays during the final boss. Link -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1Ose7A8P94
The intro (00:00) starts off as eerie and mysterious, as if something big and bad is coming up. It takes sometime until it hits the cool twist, so many measures are used to create the build up, perhaps around 12 measures, if this is played in 4/4 time. The notes keep getting louder and higher until it hits the big breakdown at 00:18, where the song becomes quite epic and exciting. The sudden unexpected turn to rock is very satisfying to me and it always brings me excitement, this part of the song of course is the most powerful. At 00:58 it hits these fast and repetitive notes then goes back to a slow rising tempo, before it gets back into the face paced action. So I would call this part the break, which is used again at the near the end at 01:20 to end the song(of course before it begins to loop again). The notes used in the later parts of the song are rapid and quick, so if you listen carefully, you can hear 1/32 notes being most common. Since the song must remain at the same tempo, these notes give the feeling of super fast paced and rapidness, while the beginning is quite slow and calmer. This song is pretty great and an unexpected surprise when first heard in-game. As most of the other songs are normally bouncy and cheerily, than suddenly this song is hardcore and epic. Songs I despise + enjoy
I don’t have a song I really hate with a burning passion, but their is a genre I do hate. That would be country music, and many people would agree country music is the worse. They all sound the same, with that one guy with the country accent singing about his boring life, thinking it sounds great. The same dumb guitar is all of them as well. If you heard at least one country song, you’ve heard them all. I don’t want to talk about country music anymore.
A wonderful song I listen to is Pepsislam (Quad City DJ’s vs Pepsiman, this is a mash-up — when two or more songs are played together and make a completely new song — of already two amazing songs. With their powers combined, we get a masterpiece. It’s crazy how perfect the songs sound together. You can hear a backbeat constantly during the song, which gives that fast paced and exciting feel. Also the fact that there is a smooth jazz solo in the song just sells it to me, since I really enjoy jazz. Yeah, I know I have great taste in music.
